Joint Border Committee of Cambodia protests Thai military’s violent actions

The Cambodian Joint Border Committee (JBC) has protested against the Thai military’s violations of Cambodian territorial integrity by erecting barbed wire, nets, barriers and placing vehicles on the border line in the villages of Sok Sang and Prey Chan, O Bei Choan commune, O Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province.
The Joint Border Committee of Cambodia (JBC) would like to express its strong protest against the following violations by the Thai military:
1. On August 12, 2025, the Thai military spread barbed wire, nets, barriers, and placed tires on the section of the border line between border posts 46-47 in the Sast area, Sok Sang Village, O Bei Chon Commune, O Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province.
2. On August 13, 2025, the Thai military spread barbed wire, nets, barriers, and placed tires on the section of the border line between border posts 42-43 in the Sast area, Prey Chan village, O Bei Choan commune, O Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province.
3. On August 14, 2025, the Thai military attempted to spread barbed wire, barbed wire, and place tires at the Boeung Trakuan border gate area, at the border section in the geographical area of Banteay Mean Rith and Thanal Raek villages, Kok Romyat commune, Thma Puok district, Banteay Meanchey province. However, seeing the presence of Cambodian citizens and forces, as well as foreign military attachés observing the area, the Thai military decided to stop the activity and retreat.
The unilateral land occupation by the Thai military through the installation of barbed wire, fences, and tires on the above-mentioned border section is a violation of the spirit of the 2000 MOU and international law, especially the jurisdiction of the Joint Border Committee (JBC), and undermines the results of past efforts and the negotiation process of the Joint Border Committee (JBC) of the two countries.
Once again, the Cambodian Joint Border Committee (JBC) would like to protest against the Thai military’s illegal activities and demand the immediate removal of barbed wire, nets, and tires, as well as taking measures to prevent such illegal activities from occurring again along the border of the two countries.
